The start_server.sh is not used. Changes there will not reflect in the server.
Only changes done in the webinterface reflect in the server. Keep in mind you need to restart the server for the changes to take effect.

Just fyi that file is never used. We start the game directly. So anything in that file is ignored. Also it gets reset on every restart, so no point in changing anything there even if we used that file to start the server.

Restarting servers can have multiple reasons. But the most common is that you put the server password in the server name, which is not allowed by the game.
Also see if you can find any errors in the console.

During the upgrade the IP and port could have changed. Please verify that you are attempting to connect to the IP and port that displays on your panel.
If you want to avoid having to change your server entry in the future I want to make you aware that you can also set a subdomain that always points to your server for free in your services overview. Expand the dropdown of the Minecraft server and you should see the option.

PaperMC is fully compatible with Bukkit. They are after all "just" a performance optimized bukkit. Just switch the version to 1.16.5 Paper restart your server and that was it.

Well it's very important to differentiate between server lag and client/FPS lag. Please be more specific about which kind of lag you are experiencing.
Notice both answers here are correct. They just address different kinds of lag.

If mods are involved make sure those mods aren't causing any issues. Be sure to provide logs so we can see what's going on.

Grundsätzlich gilt alle Mods, die etwas hinzufügen was in der Welt real existiert müssen auch auf den Server.
Also in der Regel Blöcke, Items und Mobs.
Rein visuelle Sachen oder Performance-Verbesserer kann man nur auf dem Client habe und es geht trotzdem. (JEI z.B. oder Minimaps)

Make sure to increase the port number by one (that's the query port number)
So if it says your server is: 12.34.56.78:12300, then you need to put 12.34.56.78:12301 in IP Address field

Hey.
I quickly checked out your servers and I noticed that you bought a DayZ server for PC, not XBox.
You sadly have to buy XBox servers through the XBox store as Microsoft wants their share too.
