FTP Credentials not working

Dear forum members,
for some time now we have been creating and maintaining new ways to help game server admins with questions and problems as quickly as possible, e.g. our Guides section and the Nitrado Community Discord.

Therefore, we inform you that the Nitrado Forum will be closed on March 31, 2023. We are consolidating our community support to our Discord channel, which is faster and more efficient. We have also seen incredible growth in our community due to the hard work of our moderators and our bots. We are confident that this move will ensure that we provide the best support possible for our users.

Thank you to all members for your continued use of the forum!

Assistance with all questions concerning your Nitrado service can now be found in these spots:

  • I just purchased a Astroneer server, and trying to log into the FTP so I can upload a save to play from. However the FTP server is not accepting the credentials that are listed on the Dashboard for the server..

Phone support is no help; either hangs up on you saying they are busy. Or you sit on hold for 34 min, just hear silence when your up next in to talk to someone, then it hangs up on you!

  • Can you show a screenshot of your login (blur the password / username)? Everything entered correct? Please try again and make sure to include no spaces etc. after the password. Maybe even try a different FTP client.

If it doesn't work and you can't get trough via phone, you can open a support ticket.

  • What was the solution here? Having the same issue. Server is stopped, credentials don't work. If I try and change the password it says

User (username removed home directory not found

  • This was resolved by using a proper FTP client, rather than Chrome or Explorer to test credentials.

Now onto why I can't view my expert settings... "The requested file or directory could not be found" - opening a support ticket for that.

  • I'm getting this same issue. Failing on WinSCP as well as Filezilla.

If I try to change my password via the web interface I get the error, "User <username> home directory not found".

    Filezilla error:

    Command: PASS ********

    Response: 530 Login incorrect.

Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

  • I am running into this same issues when attempting ftp access for an astroneer server I just rented. Attempted access via filezilla, got the 503 login incorrect message. Tried changing the password via the web interface and get the home directory not found error. I am very interested if this problem is resolved.

    ** Update:

I had a thought shortly after I wrote this, don't know if it will work for you, but I think my issue was because I had never actually used the server. Actually logging in and then out of the astroneer server fixed my issue. I think it just had not actually created the user directory. I am now able to change the ftp password and access it via filezilla.

  • You won't get access to the files for every game. For certain games, nitrado isn't allowed to give the users access to the filesystem.

Tell us the game and we might be able to tell you more.

I am playing Ark, and i am trying to move my save file from one of my servers to the other, I have found that the lag in one of the dlc maps requires more to run it smoothly... one of our servers has a larger ram we rented and the other doesn't... we wanted to move the save file from our main server over to the clustered server... how is it possible to do this when everything says that the FTP information is supposed to be accessible right away..

also there has been a lot of building on the one map we don't wish to lose... is there something I should have clicked to give me access ??

  • ok, I guess back to searching, whenever you get an answer please feel free to respond... I know others who have locally saved a gamesave file, and done this exact same thing i'm looking to do with their ps4 clusters... just not sure why my FTP protocols aren't showing up when theirs did..

  • ARP PS4 won't get access, sorry. (Nothing nitrado can change)

Im currently not sure if the support can move a savegame for you, in case it is important to you, contact the support directly.
