If i am wanting to purchase a cross play server for both xbox and pc to play on how do i do this?
Do i need to get the server through the xbox app on the microsoft store and will both pc and xbox then be able to connect?

Yes to get a crossplay server you need to get it via the Nitrado app on the xbox one.
When it comes to crossplay its only crossplay between xbox and windows 10 version of ark.
You cannot crossplay between xbox and the steam version of Ark. Make sure you are going to be using the Windows 10 version of ark from the window store

I have to get the Nitrado app on Xbox, so I don't need to get the pass Xbox live to play with my son from my PC ?

XBox Live is still needed as that is only 'access' in being online. It is a Microsoft thing.

Once you checked off crossplay did you save and restart the server ?

i just rented a server on my pc so my wife and i can play together her on the xbox and there is no option for "crossplay" in server settings!! it must only be through the XBOX app am i missing something? the pic's on survive the ark.com looks like the option in on pc

to play on Crossplay. It must be an xbox server pur hated through the Nitrado App. And crossplay is only able to be used with the window 10 version or Ark. You cannot crossplay between the steam and the xbox/windows 10 version .

The server can be found on the "unofficial PC Sessions" under the filter in the lower left. Hope this helps.
