My friend and I are playing on one of your servers and at first the nether portals didn't work at all. We figured out how to fix that. Now our nether portals are both built and you can go in at their base and when you go to leave the nether you end up at my place. We've tried moving them, restarting the server and made sure both portals are 1024 blocks away from one another minimum. I don't know how to fix this someone please help. I've never had so many issues with nether portals before.

I believe you need to have the nether activated on the settings for the server for it to work.

I have already activated that setting. It made it possible to enter the nether but the separate portals in the over world still keep going to the same portal in the nether. Then the nether portal in the nether takes us both back to my portal and my friend has to walk all the way back home over 1024 blocks away.

To set up pairs of Nether portals properly so that they reliably travel to each other, it is best to build both portals manually. Build at desired location X,Y,Z in the Overworld. Then travel to the Nether. And then dig your way to X/8, Y, Z/8, and build a portal there.
This is straight from Google. You need to build another portal closer to his portal location in the overworld.
