  • Hello, I'm a few months into DayZ now with my own private whitelisted server (4 players) that I've paid for a few weeks now. The reason I got this server was because a group unalived my kids and I, looted all of our gear (fully geared and I had found a VSD finally), then looted and completely demolished our base all in less than 5 hours. Everything we as a family worked very diligently to build was GONE! So, I found us a solution in buying us a private server. My wife and I have rebuilt for the past few weeks to recover a lot of what we lost...only now to discover that an update paired with all servers/characters wipe is coming in 6 days? We play on XBOX and again, have a private server with 4 players (us), NO old ruined bases to cause server lag...just our castle base we are very proud of and full gear. Are we safe from this wipe, or will we lose everything AGAIN? What can we do to preserve our collective hard work over the past few weeks?? Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice!! -Ryan & family

Changed the title of the thread from “Upcoming 1.11 server/character wipe?” to “Upcoming 1.11 servers/characters wipe”.
  • If the game posts in the release notes it will wipe, then it will wipe. Many games post this. Rather sucks, but it happens and out of the players control. You can visit the game dev forums and share your frustration.

My version shows '1.11' and I've checked my types.xml and see the new SVAL gun and mag but my server didn't wipe. Logged into same character, bases are still sort of intact ..

I honestly wanted the wipe as one of the mods I installed broke fences/gates/towers and folded up all the tents which had loot in them. Loot spewed all over the ground. It's a bit of a mess.

    Should I wait or re-install?

Personally I would wipe it just so you get all of the new optimization and control over the server after the changes. For private servers it isn't required to wipe and reset everything but it's a strong recommendation as the new update can cause problems amongst a server with old content. For best server performance a wipe is the way to go, and with you broken mod it makes even more sense to do it (especially considering the update includes some fixes with fences/gates/towers)

In your case as your server is for casual purposes I don't think you need to worry. The server wipes were for official servers and a recommendation (but optional) for community/private servers. Since your server is small, and again for casual purpose, I don't think you would need to reset everything. My servers brand new but we've still made some good progress as of recent so I know how you feel on that front. I don't intend to reset mine, we may experience some slower times here and there but that's a small sacrifice in comparison to the other option.
